Malikie Wi-Fi patent challenge granted

On September 16, 2026, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted Unified’s request, finding substantial new questions of patentability on all challenged claims of U.S. Patent 12,395,899, another patent owned by Malikie Innovations Limited, an NPE and entity of Key Patent Innovations Limited. This overcame Malikie’s Pre-Order paper seeking denial. The ‘899 patent relates to the negotiation of the prioritization of network management traffic by Wi-Fi stations and access points. This negotiation involves transmitting management frame quality of service (MFQ) policies and requests for changes to MFQ policies between stations and access points.

Malikie cryptography patent challenge granted

On September 17, 2026, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted Unified’s request, finding substantial new questions of patentability on all challenged claims of U.S. Patent 7,372,960, owned by Malikie Innovations Limited, an NPE and entity of Key Patent Innovations Limited. This overcame Malikie’s Pre-Order paper seeking denial. The ‘960 patent relates to finite field calculations in cryptography. The patent has been asserted against Core Scientific and MARA Holdings. Malikie Innovations has filed several other litigations funded by Key Patent Innovations Limited against networking communications, apps, and Wi-Fi devices.

InstaCom communications patent challenge granted

On September 9, 2026, two months after Unified filed an ex parte reexamination, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted Unified’s request, finding substantial new questions of patentability on all challenged claims of U.S. Patent 10,298,644, owned and litigated by InstaCom LLC, an NPE and entity of Elon Life LLC. The '644 patent relates to an instant communications system having established communication channels between communication devices.

Two Wilus Wi-Fi patents challenges granted

On August 28, 2026, two months after Unified filed two separate ex parte reexaminations, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted both of Unified’s requests, finding substantial new questions of patentability on all challenged claims of U.S. Patent 11,356,947 and U.S. Patent 12,167,415, owned by Wilus Institute of Standards & Technology, Inc., an entity of Good Day to Invent, Inc. The '415 and '947 patents relate to allocation of bandwidth in wireless communications using a non-contiguous channel, based on information in HE-SIG-A and HE-SIG-B subfields in received packets. These technologies relate to Wi-Fi 6 enabled devices (802.11ax). The filings are part of Unified’s ongoing efforts in the SEP Wi-Fi Zone.

Magnetar/Atlantic IP entity, Croga Innovations, firewall patent confirmed invalid by PTAB

On September 10, 2026, PTAB affirmed-in-part and issued new grounds of rejection in Unified’s ex parte reexamination of U.S. Patent 10,601,780, owned by Croga Innovations, Ltd., an entity of Atlantic IP Services Limited. The '780 patent relates to a networked computer system that employs a combination of internal and external firewall mechanisms, along with virtualization techniques, to isolate secure LANs from untrusted internet sources. The patent had been asserted against IBM, Fortinet, and others.
