On June 5, 2026, Unified filed an ex parte reexamination proceeding against U.S. Patent 11,257,115 owned and asserted by Stratacor LLC, an NPE and entity of Ambient Analytics LLC. The ‘115 patent generally relates to providing targeted advertising based on monitoring a user’s mouse movements. It has been asserted against Alibaba Group Holding Limited.

Equitable IP entity, Induction Devices, EMV chip patent challenged

On May 29, 2026, Unified filed an ex parte reexamination proceeding against U.S. Patent 8,370,543, owned and asserted by Induction Devices LLC, an NPE and entity of Equitable IP Corporation. The ‘543 patent relates to synchronization of communication between devices operating in different clock or time domains, especially a processor accessing memory on a different clock. The patent has been asserted against 25+ banks and retailers including Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, Capital One, Truist, Costco, Lowes, Gap, IKEA, and others.

Dominion Harbor entity, Bunker Hill, EV battery patent challenge granted

On June 1, 2026, two months after Unified filed an ex parte reexamination, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted Unified’s request, finding substantial new questions of patentability on all challenged claims of U.S. Patent 9,914,365, asserted by Bunker Hill Technologies, an NPE and entity of Dominion Harbor Enterprises, LLC. The ’365 patent generally relates to a power electronic charging apparatus for rapidly charging a DC energy storage device. It has been asserted against Ford, Toyota, and Nissan.

Acacia entity, Stingray IP, Wi-Fi patent found invalid

On May 20, 2026, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) entered a notice of intent to issue a reexamination certificate cancelling all challenged claims of U.S. Patent 7,224,678, owned and asserted by Stingray IP Solutions, an NPE and entity of Acacia Research Corporation. The Examiner maintained the rejections of all challenged claims of the ‘678 patent. The ‘678 patent relates to detecting an intrusion in a network system. It was asserted against Leedarson IoT, Schlage Lock, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Vivint, and Allegion.

AX Wireless Wi-Fi patent challenge granted

On April 24, 2026, after Unified filed an ex parte reexamination, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted Unified’s request, finding substantial new questions of patentability on all challenged claims of U.S. Patent 11,777,776, owned by AX Wireless, LLC, an NPE and entity of IdeaHub. The ‘776 patent generally relates to header field configurations (e.g., header repetition) in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) communication systems (802.11n). It has been asserted against Sony, TP Link, Ubiquiti, D-Link, Vantiva, and ASUSTek. The filing is part of Unified’s ongoing efforts in the SEP Wi-Fi Zone.
