Malikie Wi-Fi patent challenge granted

On September 16, 2026, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted Unified’s request, finding substantial new questions of patentability on all challenged claims of U.S. Patent 12,395,899, another patent owned by Malikie Innovations Limited, an NPE and entity of Key Patent Innovations Limited. This overcame Malikie’s Pre-Order paper seeking denial. The ‘899 patent relates to the negotiation of the prioritization of network management traffic by Wi-Fi stations and access points. This negotiation involves transmitting management frame quality of service (MFQ) policies and requests for changes to MFQ policies between stations and access points.

Two Wilus Wi-Fi patents challenges granted

On August 28, 2026, two months after Unified filed two separate ex parte reexaminations, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted both of Unified’s requests, finding substantial new questions of patentability on all challenged claims of U.S. Patent 11,356,947 and U.S. Patent 12,167,415, owned by Wilus Institute of Standards & Technology, Inc., an entity of Good Day to Invent, Inc. The '415 and '947 patents relate to allocation of bandwidth in wireless communications using a non-contiguous channel, based on information in HE-SIG-A and HE-SIG-B subfields in received packets. These technologies relate to Wi-Fi 6 enabled devices (802.11ax). The filings are part of Unified’s ongoing efforts in the SEP Wi-Fi Zone.

Wilus Wi-Fi patent challenge granted

On September 8, 2026, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted Unified’s request, finding substantial new questions of patentability on all challenged claims of U.S. Patent 12,150,105, owned by Wilus Institute of Standards & Technology, Inc., an entity of Good Day to Invent, Inc. The '105 patent relates to wireless communication terminals and signaling, and more specifically to signaling information indicating circumstances in which operations based on the  Basic Service Set (BSS) color are not used. This challenge is part of Unified’s Wi-Fi zone and is the seventh filing against Wilus by Unified.

On July 24, 2026, Unified filed an ex parte reexamination proceeding against U.S. Patent 10,651,992, owned by Wilus Institute of Standards & Technology, Inc., an entity of Good Day to Invent, Inc. The '992 patent relates to a wireless communication method for coexistence between a legacy wireless communication terminal and a non-legacy wireless communication terminal in a wireless communication environment. It has been asserted against Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) enabled network devices made by TP-Link and Askey Computer.

The ‘899 patent relates to the negotiation of the prioritization of network management traffic by Wi-Fi stations and access points. This negotiation involves transmitting management frame quality of service (MFQ) policies and requests for changes to MFQ policies between stations and access points. Malikie Innovations has filed several other litigations funded by Key Patent Innovations Limited against networking communications, apps, and Wi-Fi devices.
