On November 29, 2016, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board instituted inter partes review IPR2016-01109 against a patent owned and asserted by Sentegra LLC. The Board instituted IPR on claims 1, 4, 6, 7, and 11–13 of the 8,706,627 patent.
