$2,000 for Near Field Electronics input signal patent prior art

Unified Patents added a new PATROLL contest, with a $2,000 cash prize, seeking prior art on at least claim 2 of U.S. Patent 7,373,531, owned and asserted by Near Field Electronics LLC, an NPE and entity of Equitable IP Corporation. The '531 patent relates to a simple circuit and method for detecting whether an input signal is present, toggling, stopped, or at a particular frequency, and then using that result to reduce power consumption. It has been asserted against over 50 companies such as Lowes, Whole Foods, The Gap, AT&T Mobility, and others.

The '520 patent relates to a system for monitoring and coaching physical exercise routines using motion/position sensors. It has been asserted against Peloton.

Another WirelessWerx IP geofencing patent challenged

On July 30, 2026, Unified Patents filed an ex parte reexamination proceeding against U.S. Patent 8,009,037, owned by WirelessWerx IP LLC, an NPE and Dynamic IP Deals LLC entity. The ‘037 patent is directed to tracking and managing wireless devices using geofencing techniques. It is currently asserted against Flytrex, EZ Web Enterprises, and Parking Guidance Systems.

Validity of IP Edge entity Kreatosphere patent being investigated

The team at Unified is using Pearl to identify and chart prior art against a patent owned by Kreatosphere LLC, an NPE and entity of IP Edge LLC. On July 28, 2026, Unified filed an ex parte reexamination proceeding against U.S. Patent 10,298,644, owned and asserted by InstaCom LLC, an NPE and entity of Elon Life LLC.
