Acacia entity, Stingray IP, Wi-Fi patent found invalid

On February 5, 2026, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) issued an Advisory Action in the reexamination filing of U.S. Patent 7,224,678, owned and asserted by Stingray IP Solutions, an NPE and entity of Acacia Research Corporation. The Examiner maintained the rejections of all challenged claims of the ‘678 patent. The ‘678 patent relates to detecting an intrusion in a network system. It was asserted against Leedarson IoT, Schlage Lock, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Vivint, and Allegion.

Stratacor digital content patent campaign - invalidity charts coming soon

The team at Unified IP Services is using Pearl to identify and chart prior art against U.S. Patent 11,257,115, owned by Stratacor LLC, an NPE and entity of Ambient Analytics LLC. The ‘115 patent is generally related to enhancing targeted advertising or directing users to similar content. The patent has been asserted against Alibaba Group Holding Limited.

Polaris PowerLED power management patent found invalid

On February 2, 2026, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) entered a notice of intent to issue a reexamination certificate cancelling challenged claims 18-21 of U.S. Patent 8,181,042, owned by Polaris PowerLED Technologies, LLC, an NPE. The ‘042 patent generally relates to power management in integrated circuits. It was the subject of a declaratory judgment action from Micron, which has settled.

Two more Wilus Wi-Fi patents challenged

On January 30, 2026, Unified filed an ex parte reexamination proceeding against U.S. Patent 12,166,587, owned by Wilus Institute of Standards & Technology, Inc., an entity of Good Day to Invent, Inc. The ‘587 patent generally related to how to identify padding in Wi-Fi trigger frames. The '587 patent has not been asserted itself, but it is the latest issued patent in a family being used in litigation.

On February 3, 2026, Unified filed an ex parte reexamination proceeding against U.S. Patent 11,284,475, also owned by Wilus. The ‘475 patent is generally related to setting a Basic Service Set (BSS) color in a responsive Wi-Fi Physical Layer Protocol Data Units (PPDU) when a received PPDU does or does not include a trigger frame that indicates the BSS color. The '475 patent has not been asserted, but it is related to patents being used in litigation.

Primos Storage cloud services patents prior art found

The team at Unified IP Services used Pearl to successfully identify and chart prior art against U.S. Patent 7,386,663, U.S. Patent 8,312,356, and U.S. Patent 10,599,344, owned and asserted by Primos Storage Technology LLC, an NPE. The patents listed below generally relate to transaction-based storage systems. All three patents listed below have been asserted against Amazon.
