Another Wilus Wi-Fi patent challenge instituted

On December 29, 2025, two months after Unified filed an ex parte reexamination, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted Unified’s request, finding substantial new questions of patentability on the challenged claims (1-6, 12-17) of U.S. Patent 10,567,047, owned and asserted by Wilus Institute of Standards & Technology, Inc., an entity of Good Day to Invent, Inc. The '047 patent is generally directed to Wi-Fi 6 devices configured to information in the HE-SIG-A field of an HE MU PPDU to understand the configuration of the HE-SIG-B field when using full bandwidth MU-MIMO. This challenge is part of Unified’s Wi-Fi zone and was the fourth reexamination filing against Wilus this year.

Another International Semiconductor Group Wi-Fi 6 patent challenge instituted

On December 19, 2025, two months after Unified filed an ex parte reexamination, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted Unified’s request, finding substantial new questions of patentability on the challenged claim of U.S. Patent 11,363,595, owned by the International Semiconductor Group, an NPE. The '595 patent is generally directed to transmitting a first frame on a first channel that identifies a second channel that can be used, and then receiving frames via both channels. This is particularly relevant to Wi-Fi devices that can operate in two frequency channels or bands, i.e., the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands.

More Bunker Hill EV patents prior art found

Unified Patents plans to release charted prior art on Bunker Hill patents weekly until its assertion of invalid patents ceases. Unified has released several charts within the last few weeks:

Using Pearl, we have successfully identified and charted prior art against patents owned by Bunker Hill, an NPE and entity of Dominion Harbor Enterprises. U.S. Patent 9,821,668 generally focuses on optimizing the total recharge time for energy storage devices in electric vehicles (EVs). U.S. Patent 9,975,439 generally uses a bi-directional buck/boost converter, the system adeptly manages energy transfer between a vehicle battery and an external source or an electric motor. U.S. Patent 10,291,158 generally manages power flow between the motors and the ESS, enabling different modes of operation such as driving the vehicle with both motors, using one motor to drive and the other as a generator, and managing energy storage with batteries and ultracapacitors. U.S. Patent 10,374,529 generally integrates an energy storage system (ESS), a power conversion system, and two motor/generators, each connected to a transmission or power split device. U.S. Patent 10,604,023 generally relates to a traction system for electric or hybrid vehicles, incorporating a voltage inverter, motor drive circuit, and a bi-directional buck/boost converter to manage power between a battery and an external energy source.
