A new PATROLL contest, with a $2,000 cash prize, was added seeking prior art on at least claims 1 and 13 of U.S. Patent 11,522,756, owned by HyperX Networks. The ‘756 patent generally relates to receiving a customer specification of network requirements exclusively specified for customer premises equipment (CPE). The patent has been asserted against Ciena.

A new PATROLL contest, with a $2,000 cash prize, was added seeking prior art on at least claim 8 of U.S. Patent 10,157,414, owned by Tiare Technology, Inc., an NPE. The ‘414 patent generally relates to using a wireless patron unit for providing services to patrons at resorts, stadiums, arenas, and other venues. The patent has been asserted over 20 times against companies like Applebees, Albertsons, Kroger, Sonic, and Best Buy.

On January 19, 2023, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) instituted trial on all challenged claims in an IPR filed by Unified against U.S. Patent 6,473,532, owned and asserted by DigiMedia Tech LLC, an NPE and an IP Investments Group entity. The ‘532 patent relates generally to processing and encoding of video images for later compression by standard compression techniques. This patent has been asserted against ViacomCBS, Lenovo, and Panasonic.

On January 20, 2023, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) issued a final written decision in Unified Patents, LLC v. DivX, LLC holding all challenge claims of U.S. Patent 10,326,987 unpatentable. Owned by DivX, LLC, an affiliate of SoftBank Group Corp, this filing is part of Unified's ongoing efforts in its SEP Video Codec Zone. The '987 patent was asserted against Hulu and is directed to encoding alternative streams of video for use in adaptive bitrate streaming.

It has been asserted against several companies such as Trello, Hive, Nulab, and LiquidPlanner.
