On August 28, 2026, Unified Patents filed an ex parte reexamination proceeding against U.S. Patent 10,212,422, owned by Ideahub Inc., an NPE. The ‘422 patent is directed to video coding and decoding using quantization parameters based on the block information of the specific encoding or decoding object block. A related patent was asserted in Europe. The ‘422 patent has been designated as essential to the VVC standard in the Access Advance’s VVC patent pool.
