On April 15, 2026, three weeks after Unified filed an ex parte reexamination, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted Unified’s request, finding substantial new questions of patentability on the challenged claims of U.S. Patent 8,315,769, owned and asserted by Vision Works IP Corp., an NPE. The ’769 patent generally relates to changing suspension characteristics of a moving vehicle in response to lateral acceleration. The ’769 patent is one of several patents asserted against Tesla, Suzuki, Nissan, Subaru, TATA Motors, Polaris, Zhejiang Geely Holding, and Mercedes-Benz.
