On June 5, 2017, Unified, represented by WilmerHale, filed a petition for inter partes review (IPR) against U.S. Patent 7,174,362, owned and asserted by Blackbird Technologies, a well-known NPE. The '362 Patent, directed to managing data duplication over the network, has been recently asserted in multiple district court cases against various defendants including Starz, Netflix, Soundcloud, and IAC among others.
