$2,000 for ContactWave messaging patent prior art

Unified Patents added a new PATROLL contest, with a $2,000 cash prize, seeking prior art on at least claim 1 of U.S. Patent 9,531,665, owned by ContactWave LLC, an NPE and entity of Jeffrey M. Gross. The '665 patent relates to the management and transmission of contact information from web pages directly to mobile communication devices. It has been asserted against Spotify.

The contest will expire on May 16, 2026. Please visit PATROLL for more information and to submit an entry for the contest. PATROLL researchers are required to use Pearl to generate claim charts. Submitted invalidity charts must address every limitation of the challenged claim. This may require using more than one prior art reference. Each PATROLL researcher can generate up to 30 invalidity claim charts per month using Pearl. These charts can be downloaded then submitted to PATROLL.

Dominion Harbor entity, Sovereign Peak Ventures, image coding patent prior art found

The team at Unified IP Services used Pearl to successfully identify and chart prior art against U.S. Patent 8,019,169, owned by Sovereign Peak Ventures LLC, an NPE and entity of Dominion Harbor Group. The ‘169 patent is generally related to an image coding apparatus and method that enhances coding efficiency by employing a similarity-based approach to image compression. The patent has recently been asserted against Arashi Vision but has been asserted in the past against NXP Semiconductors, HP, ASUSTeK Computer, Acer, Hisense, and TCL Group.

BitHarmony video streaming patents prior art found

The team at Unified IP Services used Pearl to successfully identify and chart prior art against five patents owned and asserted by BitHarmony LLC, an NPE. The patents listed below generally relate to video streaming products and services with features such as adaptive bit rate streaming and media encryption and decryption. All five patents listed below have been asserted against Amazon. The ‘485 patent, ‘605 patent, and the ‘259 patent have been asserted against Warner Bros. Discovery.
