Unified Patents added a new PATROLL contest, with a $2,000 cash prize, seeking prior art on at least claim 1 of U.S. Patent 12,028,640, owned and asserted by FITE Technologies LLC, an NPE and entity of Anjay Venture Partners LLC. The '640 patent relates to a network of recording studios to share recording sessions in a social media format. It has been asserted against ByteDance Ltd.

The '452 patent addresses innovations in peer-to-peer (P2P) network content distribution. It has been asserted against several but most recently Lumen Technologies, Fastly, JFrog, and Alibaba Cloud US LLC.

The patents generally relate to various nonvolatile memory technologies. Both patents have been asserted against Western Digital.

Longhorn Automotive measurement controller patent challenge instituted

On April 22, 2025, two months after Unified filed an ex parte reexamination, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted Unified’s request, finding substantial new questions of patentability on the challenged claims of U.S. Patent 7,987,002, owned and asserted by Longhorn Automotive Group LLC, an NPE and entity of Alpha Alpha Intellectual Partners LLC. The ‘002 patent relates to a distributed measurement system for obtaining measurements and simulations in a distributed control system. It is currently being asserted against Volkswagen, Mazda, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Volvo, and Nissan.

$1,000 awarded for Morris Routing network patent prior art

Unified is pleased to announce PATROLL crowdsourcing contest winner, Calvin Zhong, who was awarded $1,000 for his prior art submission on U.S. Patent 11,196,660, owned by Morris Routing Technologies, LLC, an NPE. The ‘660 patent generally relates to routing methods, systems, and computer program products. It has been asserted against Samsung.
