$2,000 for ShopSee interactive video patent prior art

Unified Patents added a new PATROLL contest, with a $2,000 cash prize, seeking prior art on at least claim 18 of U.S. Patent 11,134,316, owned and asserted by ShopSee Inc., an NPE. The ‘316 patent relates to video processing technology, and more particularly, relates to a method and apparatus for providing one or more interactive video layers with video media. The patent has been asserted against TikTok.

Wrinkl messaging patent challenge instituted

On December 31, 2024, two months after Unified filed an ex parte reexamination, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted Unified’s request, finding substantial new questions of patentability on all challenged claims of U.S. Patent 11,973,731, owned and asserted by Wrinkl, Inc. The ‘731 patent relates to a multi-pane group messaging interface.

IP Investments entity, DigiMedia Tech, video stitching patent challenge instituted

On December 23, 2024, less than four weeks after Unified filed an ex parte reexamination, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted Unified’s request, finding substantial new questions of patentability on all challenged claims of U.S. Patent 6,567,086, owned by DigiMedia Tech, LLC, an NPE and an IP Investments Group entity. The ’086 patent generally relates to an immersive video system using multiple video streams. It has been asserted against Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Honda, Arashi Vision Inc. d/b/a Insta360, Lenovo, and Panasonic.
