On February 3, 2023, Unified filed an opposition proceeding against EP 3474621, owned by BlackBerry. EP ‘621 is generally directed to facilitating multi-carrier operation in a mobile communication system. This filing is a part of Unified’s ongoing efforts in its SEP 3GPP/LTE/5G Zone.

On February 3, 2023, Unified filed a petition for inter partes review (IPR) against U.S. Patent 10,791,502, owned by Togail Technologies Ltd., an Magnetar Capital entity. The ’502 patent relates to error-handling procedures for system information requests in communications and has been asserted against 3GPP devices. It is currently being asserted against Apple and TCL Technology Group.

On January 31, 2023, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) issued a final written decision in Unified Patents, LLC v. Authwallet, LLC holding all challenged claims of U.S. Patent 9,292,852 unpatentable. Owned by AuthWallet, LLC, an NPE and subsidiary of Dynamic IP Deals, the '852 generally relates to transaction processing services. It has been asserted against CitiGroup, Square, American Express, Starbucks, and Nordstrom.
