On November 29, 2016, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board instituted inter partes review IPR2016-01109 against a patent owned and asserted by Sentegra LLC. The Board instituted IPR on claims 1, 4, 6, 7, and 11–13 of the 8,706,627 patent.

On November 21, Unified Patents Inc. filed a petition for inter partes review, IPR2017-00296, against a patent owned and asserted by Textile Computing Systems, Inc. The U.S. patent 8,505,079, ostensibly directed to tokenization, had been asserted against credit unions.

On November 10, Unified filed a petition for inter partes review on a patent in a second patent family owned and asserted by Uniloc USA, Inc. and Uniloc Luxembourg S.A. In IPR2017-00184, Unified challenged the patentability of 7,069,293.

On Thursday, November 17, 2016 Unified co-hosted its 3rd annual Corporate Intellectual Property Strategy Conference (CIPSC). Members were also invited to attend the morning session to receive updates on recent activities.
The afternoon session was open to the public and featured leading IP executives from as well as multiple panel discussions on IP management strategies and developing issues at the USPTO.

On October 24, 2016, Unified Patents Inc. and Rothschild Connected Devices Innovations, LLC filed a joint motion to terminate IPR2016-00535 on U.S. Patent 8,788,090. In it, they noted that the parties had "entered into a written confidential settlement agreement that fully resolves all underlying disputes between the parties,", and are thus seeking termination of the IPR the Board instituted on August 1, 2016. The patent had been asserted in sixty complaints alleging patent infringement in district court.
