IP Investments entity DigiMedia Tech camera patent challenged

On November 26, 2024, Unified Patents filed an ex parte reexamination proceeding against U.S. Patent 6,567,086, owned by DigiMedia Tech, LLC, an NPE and an IP Investments Group entity. The ’086 patent generally relates to an immersive video system using multiple video streams. It has been asserted against Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Honda, Arashi Vision Inc. d/b/a Insta360, Lenovo, and Panasonic.

IP Investments Group entity, DataCloud Tech, cloud networking patent found invalid

On May 30, 2024, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) issued a notice of intent to issue a reexamination certificate cancelling all 20 claims of U.S. Patent 8,762,498, owned by DataCloud Technologies, LLC, an NPE and an IP Investments Group entity. The ‘498 patent generally relates to communicating to a network through a virtual domain. It has been asserted in over 25 district court litigations, including against McAfee, 8x8, A10 Networks, Squarespace, Box, Arista Networks, Extreme Networks, and others.

The ‘498 patent generally relates to communicating to a network through a virtual domain. It has been asserted in over 25 district court litigations, including against 8x8, A10 Networks, Squarespace, Box, Arista Networks, Extreme Networks, and others.

CommWorks Solutions patent challenged

On July 30, 2021, Unified filed a petition for inter partes review (IPR) against U.S. Patent 8,923,846, owned by CommWorks Solutions, LLC, an NPE and subsidiary of IP Investments Group LLC. The ‘846 patent relates to the recovery of information in a mobile communications network. It has been asserted against Comcast Cable Communications.

FireNet Technologies patent held unpatentable

On March 18, 2021, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) issued a final written decision in Unified Patents, LLC v. Firenet Technologies, LLC holding all claims of U.S. Patent 8,892,600 (claims 1-17 and 19-23) unpatentable. This is an IPinvestments Group entity. The ’600 patent, generally directed to a proxy firewall system for protecting devices within a network. FireNet had previously sued Kemp Technologies, Fortinet, Citrix, A10 Networks, and Fujitsu.
