On September 17, 2015, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) instituted another petition filed by Unified Patents (Unified) against a patent owned by Hall Data Sync Technologies LLC (Hall Data) on all challenged claims. Unified filed on March 11, 2015 to protect Cloud Storage technologies from questionable NPE assertions.

Hall Data claims its patent covers database synchronization using timestamps. Hall Data Sync filed 6 cases against cloud storage companies in January 2015. Unified's IPR challenging claims 1-6, 8, 9, 12, 13, 15-17, and 19 of U.S. Pat. No 7, 685,506 was instituted on all claims and multiple grounds.
