On November 11, 2015, Unified Patents ("Unified") petitioned for inter partes review (IPR) of U.S. Patent 8,090,862, owned and asserted by Nonend Inventions N.V. ("Nonend"). On May 1, 2015, Nonend filed 17 complaints against major companies in the Eastern District of Texas, following the assertion of nine complaints in the same district on April 9, less than a month earlier, asserting four similar, closely related patents. In those cases, Nonend claims its patents cover streaming content delivery. Unified independently petitioned for IPR challenging all claims 1-20 of the patent.
