International Semiconductor Group Wi-Fi 6 patent challenged

On September 19, 2025, Unified Patents filed an ex parte reexamination proceeding against U.S. Patent 12,137,063, owned and asserted by the International Semiconductor Group, an NPE. The '063 patent is directed to coordinating transmissions for adjacent access points (APs) that have overlapping coverage areas. The '063 patent is one of over 20 patents divested from Toshiba in April this year and belongs to one of the largest families in that transfer. The '063 patent is also related to an application currently pending before the Office.

Intellectual Ventures cloud load balancing patent challenge instituted

On September 17, 2025, after Unified filed an ex parte reexamination, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted Unified’s request, finding substantial new questions of patentability on the challenged claims of U.S. Patent 7,257,582, owned by Intellectual Ventures I LLC. The ‘582 patent relates to load balancing using multiple computer processors. It has been asserted against American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and the Home Depot.

New AI NPE Campaign — Prior Art Found

Unified’s IP Services using Pearl has successfully identified and charted prior art against a patent owned by the Artificial Intelligence Industry Association Incorporated, an NPE.  These patents generally relate to machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies. They have been asserted against Osaro, Topaz Labs, Elementary Robotics, and Geisel Software.

The '640 patent relates to a network of recording studios to share recording sessions in a social media format. It had been asserted against ByteDance Ltd.
