$4,000 awarded for IngenioSpec eyeware patents prior art

$2,000 for KEEEX digital fingerprint patent prior art

Unified Patents added a new PATROLL contest, with a $2,000 cash prize, seeking prior art on at least claim 1 of U.S. Patent 10,218,714, owned by KEEEX, an NPE. The '714 patent pertains to methods for verifying the integrity of digital data blocks and accessing them. Specifically, it describes a process that includes searching for a digital fingerprint within a data block, calculating a digital fingerprint by applying a specific function that excludes the bits of any found fingerprint, and verifying the authenticity by comparing the found fingerprint with the calculated one.

InfoGation navigation patent found invalid

On March 6, 2025, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) entered a notice of intent to issue a reexamination certificate canceling all claims of U.S. Patent 8,406,994, owned and asserted by InfoGation Corporation, an NPE. The '994 patent is generally directed to displaying maps on GPS receivers. It has been asserted against Toyota, Honda, BMW, and Changan Ford Automobile Company.

Fraud Free Transactions secure transactions patent challenged

On March 7, 2025, Unified Patents filed an ex parte reexamination proceeding against U.S. Patent 11,551,215, owned and asserted by Fraud Free Transactions, LLC. The ‘215 patent relates to fraud deterrence for secure transactions. It has been asserted against Okta and Ping Identity Corporation.

IdeaHub video codec patent challenge instituted

On March 7, 2025, one month after Unified filed an ex parte reexamination, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted Unified’s request, finding substantial new questions of patentability on all challenged claims of U.S. Patent 10,904,539, owned by Ideahub Inc., an NPE. The ‘539 patent relates to video coding techniques that apply linear method (LM) prediction modes and particularly to the prediction of a chroma pixel value using a LM chroma mode or a low-pass-filtered LM chroma mode. It has been designated as essential to the VVC standard in the Access Advance’s VVC patent pool.
