Virtual Creative Artist patent challenged

On August 11, 2022, Unified filed a petition for inter partes review (IPR) against U.S. Patent 10,339,576, owned and asserted by Virtual Creative Artist, LLC. The '576 patent is directed towards a process for creating and publishing media content on an electronic exchange. The patent is currently being asserted against Meta.

Intellectual Ventures patent likely invalid

On August 11, 2022, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) instituted trial on all challenged claims in an IPR filed by Unified against U.S. Patent 9,291,475, owned by Intellectual Ventures II LLC. The ’475 patent relates to alerting a recipient regarding a violation of a vehicle, such as a speeding violation, and has been asserted in district court against Toyota, GM, and Honda.

Valtrus Innovations patent challenged

On August 10, 2022, Unified filed a petition for inter partes review (IPR) against U.S. Patent 7,748,005, owned and asserted by Valtrus Innovations Ltd., an entity of Key Patent Innovations Limited. The ‘005 patent is generally related to allocating resources between several computing domains. It has been asserted against Google.

On August 12, 2022, a new PATROLL contest, with a $3,000 cash prize, was added seeking prior art on at least claim 58 of U.S. Patent 6,582,380. The patent is owned by Health Tracker Systems, LLC, an NPE. The ‘380 patent generally relates to monitoring activity in individuals and providing feedback based on that activity through a device. The patent is currently being asserted against Polar Electro, Casio, Samsung, Fossil, and Michael Kors.
