Zyrcuits IP settles with Unified Patents

On April 16, 2020, the Board issued an order terminating IPR2020-00362 pursuant to a joint settlement request filed by Unified Patents and Zyrcuits IP LLC, an IP Edge affiliate and well-known NPE. U.S. Patent 6,671,307, related to spread-spectrum communications systems, has been asserted against various smart products that employ the Zigbee protocol in district court cases against such companies as Bosch Security, Samsung, Assa Abloy, and Wink Labs.

Optima Direct patent challenged as likely unpatentable

On April 10, 2020, Unified filed a petition for inter partes review (IPR) against U.S. Patent 8,646,060, owned and asserted by Optima Direct, LLC (an NPE and 2S Ventures affiliate). The ’060 patent, generally directed to adaptive authentication methods using a mobile device, has been asserted in district court cases against HID Global Corporation, OneLogin, Ping Identity and Okta.

New Portal Product and Features

Unified's Portal now allows for users to easily search for standards related to 3GPP, including 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G. Quickly use the searchable fields to drill down to a specific standard, technical document, or specification. In addition, using the Analytics Tool will allow users to see who is contributing to the standard and see a timeline of contributions.

Patent Analytics now has four quick-view pages, to allow users to effectively understand the current patent landscape. View by Top Assignees, Top Law Firms, PTAB and Litigation statistics, and By Date.

Understanding the impact of litigation and PTAB challenges on patents, can now be done with one click in Unified's Portal. Users can also see an industry breakdown of what sectors are being targeted the most.

Motion Offense patent challenged as likely unpatentable

On April 3, 2020, Unified filed a petition for inter partes review (IPR) against U.S. Patent 10,013,158, owned and asserted by Motion Offense, LLC (an NPE and Oso IP affiliate). The ’158 patent, generally directed to sharing files from one user to another using a link without attaching the file itself, is at issue in district court cases involving Sprouts Farmers Market and Dropbox.

Jenam Tech patent challenged as likely unpatentable

On April 1, 2020, Unified filed a petition for inter partes review (IPR) against U.S. Patent 9,923,995, owned and asserted by Jenam Tech, LLC (an NPE and Oso IP affiliate). The ’995 patent, generally directed to sharing information for detecting an idle network connection between two nodes, has been asserted in district court cases against LG and Samsung.
