Dale Progress settles with Unified Patents

On June 19, 2019, the Board issued an order terminating IPR2019-00866 pursuant to a joint settlement request filed by Unified Patents and Dale Progress Ltd., an NPE. U.S. Patent No. 9,686,504, directed to an interface apparatus and method for connecting an external display device and a portable device, has been asserted in 21 district court cases (6 of which were pending at the time of settlement) against numerous automobile companies such as BMW, Fiat Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, and Volkswagen.

Another Data Scape patent added to PATROLL

On June 13, 2019, Unified added a $1,000 contest to PATROLL seeking prior art for US 7,617,537 owned by and asserted by Data Scape Limited, an NPE that has filed dozens of district court cases against such companies as Verizon, Spotify, Pandora, Dell and others. The '537 patent generally relates to a device for data communication and streaming.

Another American GNC patent added to PATROLL

On June 7, 2019, Unified added a $1,000 contest to PATROLL seeking prior art for US 6,6480,789 owned by and asserted by American GNC Corp. The '789 patent, directed to a collision avoidance system, has been asserted in district court litigation against Toyota.

American GNC Corp patent added to PATROLL

On June 7, 2019, Unified added a $1,000 contest to PATROLL seeking prior art for US 6,311,555 owned by and asserted by American GNC Corp. The '555 patent purportedly relates to motion sensors for vehicles, but has been broadly asserted against auto companies as well as mobile device manufacturers for products containing accelerometers and gryoscopes.
