Mimzi voice interaction patent challenged

On October 29, 2025, Unified Patents filed an ex parte reexamination proceeding against U.S. Patent 9,792,361, owned and asserted by Mimzi, LLC, an NPE. The ’361 patent relates to using a phone to record phone calls, meetings, and dictation, and to store associated metadata, audio, and/or speech-recognized text in a centralized, content-searchable repository. It has been asserted against Nissan, Ford, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz AG, Honda, and Subaru.

ISG Wi-Fi 6 patent challenged

On October 29, 2025, Unified Patents filed an ex parte reexamination proceeding against U.S. Patent 11,363,595, owned by the International Semiconductor Group, an NPE. The '595 patent is generally directed to transmitting a first frame on a first channel that identifies a second channel that can be used, and then receiving frames via both channels. This is particularly relevant to Wi-Fi devices that can operate in two frequency channels or bands, i.e., the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. This filing marks the tenth patent challenged in Unified’s recently created SEP Wi-Fi zone.

Fourth Wilus Wi-Fi patent challenged

On October 28, 2025, Unified filed an ex parte reexamination proceeding against U.S. Patent 10,567,047, owned and asserted by Wilus Institute of Standards & Technology, Inc., an entity of Good Day to Invent, Inc. The '047 patent is generally directed to Wi-Fi 6 devices configured to information in the HE-SIG-A field of an HE MU PPDU to understand the configuration of the HE-SIG-B field when using full bandwidth MU-MIMO. This challenge is part of Unified’s Wi-Fi zone and is the fourth filing against Wilus this year.

International Semiconductor Group Wi-Fi 6 patent challenge instituted

On October 15, 2025, four weeks after Unified filed an ex parte reexamination, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted Unified’s request, finding substantial new questions of patentability on the challenged claims (1-12) of U.S. Patent 12,137,063, owned and asserted by the International Semiconductor Group, an NPE. The '063 patent is directed to coordinating transmissions for adjacent access points (APs) that have overlapping coverage areas. The '063 patent is one of over 20 patents divested from Toshiba in April this year and belongs to one of the largest families in that transfer. The '063 patent is also related to an application currently pending before the Office.

Wilus Wi-Fi patent challenge instituted

On October 15, 2025, four weeks after Unified filed an ex parte reexamination, the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) granted Unified’s request, finding substantial new questions of patentability on the challenged claims (1-12) of U.S. Patent 10,305,638, owned and asserted by Wilus Institute of Standards & Technology, Inc., an entity of Good Day to Invent, Inc. The claims of the '638 patent are directed to access points configured to transmit a trigger frame with a particular structure to one or more stations to coordinate a multi-user uplink transmission from the station(s). The '638 patent has been asserted by Wilus against Askey, and it is related to patents that have been asserted against Samsung and HP Inc.
