BCS Software patent challenged

On March 26, 2021, Unified Patents filed an ex parte reexamination proceeding against U.S. Patent 7,302,612, owned by BCS Software LLC. The '612 patent relates to a high-level operational support framework for monitoring, assessing, and managing the health of applications (or components/objects) in a distributed computing environment. The ‘612 patent has been asserted against Hewlett Packard, Elster Solutions (Honeywell), Landis+Gyr, and Itron.

On March 26, 2021, Unified filed a petition for inter partes review (IPR) against U.S. Patent 9,042,457, owned by Sovereign Peak Ventures, a Dominion Harbor entity. The ’457 patent relates to video processing and has been asserted against LG and TCL.

Another Velos Media patent challenged in China

On March 19, 2021, Unified Patents filed a Chinese invalidation request for CN103238328B owned by Velos Media. CN103238328B is related to U.S. Patent 8,768,077, and its extended patent family is the largest family known to be owned by Velos.

IP Bridge patent challenged in China

On March 19, 2021, Unified Patents filed a Chinese invalidation request for CN1312936C owned by IP Bridge. CN1312936C has been designated as essential in the SISVEL’s VP9 and AV1 pools and as essential to HEVC Advance. The patent is part of a large family of patents with several members designated as essential to those pools as well.

Inspire Licensing reexamination request granted

On March 24, 2021, the USPTO granted Unified's request for ex parte reexamination, finding substantial questions of patentability for the challenged claim of U.S. Patent 10,005,427, owned and asserted by Inspire Licensing, an NPE and affiliate of IP Edge. The ’427 patent is related to sensors that generate alarms for a vehicle.
