On March 11, Unified Patents (Unified) filed an inter-partes review (IPR) against patent owner Hall Data Sync Technologies LLC (Hall Data) in order to protect Cloud Storage technologies from invalid NPE assertions. Hall Data claims its patent covers database synchronization using timestamps. Hall Data Sync filed 6 cases against cloud storage companies in January 2015. Unified filed its own IPR challenging claims 1-6, 8, 9, 12, 13, 15-17, and 19 of U.S. Pat. No 7, 685,506. A copy of the filing can be found below.
