Unified Files to Invalidate Dragon IP’s Patent

On August 5, Unified Patents (Unified) filed an inter-partes review (IPR) against patent owner Dragon Intellectual Property, LLC (Dragon) in order to protect content delivery technologies from NPE activity.  Dragon claims its patent covers streaming media recording and playback and filed cases against 10 companies on December 20, 2013, in the Delaware District Court.  Unified believes that the prior art used in its August 5th IPR shows that Dragon's patent, U.S. Pat. No. 5,930,444 ('444 patent), should never have issued.  Unified's IPR challenges claims 1, 2, 7, 8, 10, 13 and 14 of the '444 patent.  A copy of the filing can be found below.
